Painting Classes in Dubai
Watercolour, acrylics, oils and mixed media for kids and adults. Structured curriculum, small groups, taught by working fine artists at our Karama studio since 1997.
Real painting, taught properly
Search “painting classes Dubai” and you will mostly find paint-and-sip evenings or children’s birthday parties. Those are great for an experience, but they don’t teach you to paint. We do the other thing.
A structured weekly class where you build real skill, colour mixing, composition, brush control, media choice, and leave with finished pieces you are genuinely proud of. Our fine-arts faculty has taught painting at Melody Makers for over 20 years. Most students start as complete beginners.
Why Melody Makers for painting
- Led by a working professional artist. Our Arts & Crafts department is led by Madhusudhan P.K., a working fine artist with 15+ years at Melody Makers. He paints in watercolour, acrylics, oil, Indian ink and mixed media, so students get fluency across media, not one tutor stretched outside their range.
- Small classes (max 6 students). Every student gets real time at the easel with the teacher. Private one-to-one sessions are available for adults, portfolio work and larger format paintings.
- Progressive curriculum. You move from colour theory and washes through still life, landscape and atmospheric work, into portraiture and figure painting. No random project-of-the-week, every term builds on the last.
- All materials provided. Paints, brushes, canvases, paper, palettes are all included. You bring yourself. Your teacher will recommend a specific home kit once you settle on a preferred medium.
- In-house exhibitions for student work. Finished pieces are framed and shown in our centre exhibitions. Students see their work hung properly, and that does more for confidence than any pep talk.
- Karama studio fees. Same Karama address since 1997, so our fees sit meaningfully below most newer studios in Jumeirah, Downtown or JLT. From AED 119/month.
- Ages 6 to adult, with a drawing pathway. Painting and drawing classes run on the same campus and can be combined. Most serious students do both, drawing for fundamentals, painting for colour and finished work, with a multi-activity discount on the second class.

Choose your medium
Watercolour
Lightest learning curve, fastest to get a result you are happy with. Transparent layers, atmospheric effects. Portable for plein-air.
Acrylic
Forgiving and versatile, paints over mistakes, dries fast. Works on canvas, board or paper. Best all-rounder for beginners who want to paint at home.
Oil
The classical choice. Richest colour, longest drying time, most rewarding once you understand the fundamentals. Recommended after 6+ months of acrylic.
How Much Do Painting Classes Cost?
Why we can price below the Dubai average
- ·Same Karama location since 1997. Rent was locked in decades before Dubai's commercial property boom. Most new studios in Jumeirah, JLT or Business Bay pay 5-10x our rate and pass that cost to students.
- ·Family-run, not VC-backed. No investor return targets to hit, no middle-management layer. The savings go back into keeping lessons affordable for UAE families.
- ·Small class sizes by default, not as an upsell. You get personal attention at the group rate — not a crowded class with a premium 1:1 tier gating the real teaching.
- ·No hidden fees. No enrolment fee, no recital fee, no annual membership. Pay month-to-month. Exam fees only if you choose to sit Trinity or ABGMVM.
